At Ecocamel, our designers are always looking to develop state of the art products to match the demanding requirements of RV-ers.
Our team wanted to understand what difference soft water makes in an RV. We discovered that due to frequent changes in locations, water quality varied greatly. Sometimes water was supplied from the wells of the RV parks and other times from the municipal water supply. In some cases water was
stored from collected rainwater. However most times, hard water was present in the water.
How do you know if you have hard water
Without going into too much science, most people know when the water they use is hard water.
There will be noticeable lime scale deposits in various appliances as well as a scaly film on shower screens and tiles. But there are other challenges in hard water areas, many people will experience drier skin and dull air, soap will not lather easily and over time they will notice damage to appliances such as boilers and pumps.
Hard water leaves a thin layer of soap on the skin. This can be damaging to the natural layer which protects our skin. Studies show a correlation between hard water and skin issues such as eczema.

Simple solutions to combat hard water issues in your RV.

The Orbit Soft Water shower head uses a unique combination of metals plus the principle of turbulence, to force the water flow through the unit where an electro-chemical catalytic reaction occurs. DIY solution to removing limescale in your shower head.
Another question we get asked is how can we remove limescale from our faucets and shower head. I like this simple solution. For your shower head simply take a small plastic bag, partly fill it with white vinegar, place the bag around the shower head and tie the bag securely in place.
Leave for about an hour and then remove the bag and brush the faceplate with a brush to clean it. How can I clean my faucet spout? Well just follow the same instructions but use a small bag and an old toothbrush to clean it.
